Listen to Music Online !

Naxos Music Library (NML) is the world´s largest on-line classical music library. Currently, it offers streaming access to more than 46,000 CDs with more than 653,000 tracks, standard and rare repertoire. Over 800 new CDs are added to the library every month.

The library offers the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues plus the complete catalogues or selected titles from over 250 classical, jazz and world music labels with more labels joining every month. Classic pop and rock music as well as Chinese orchestral music are also represented.

The contents can be searched by composer, work, genre and label; by keyword search and by a sophisticated advanced search engine with up to 10 combined search criteria. In addition to allowing subscribers to listen to recordings, NML provides liner notes for most recordings. Listeners can create personalized playlists or use predefined Naxos Music Library playlists.

Palgrave Dictionary of Economics

Did you know that the full text of the 8-volume edition of the Palgrave Dictionary of Economics is available on-line via the Consortium Luxembourg portal?

The on-line Dictionary is a dynamic resource for economists which:

  • offers excellent search and browse facilities, both full text and advanced, which make it possible to explore the Dictionary with great speed and ease;
  • contains hyper-linked cross-references within articles, making it an indispensable tool for researchers and students;
  • features carefully selected and maintained links to related sites, sources of further information and bibliographical citations;
  • enables users to bookmark searches and articles, along with their own notes, in My Dictionary, or add links to articles on social bookmarking sites;
  • incorporates quarterly additions and updates.

Find it! Links now in PubMed

It is now possible to link directly from PubMed to the Find It! service of the Consortium Luxembourg Portal.  There are two ways of doing this:

  1. Use the PubMed link available in the portal and you will automatically see the Find It! icon in the article details.
  2. Configure your PubMed preferences:
    • Go to PubMed.
    • Create or log in to your My NCBI account. Use the “My NCBI” link in the upper right corner.
    • After clicking on My NCBI, click on Preferences in the left menu.
    • Under PubMed Preferences, click on Outside Tool.
    • In the resulting list, navigate to C and choose Consortium Luxembourg.  Click on the green Save button.
    • Consortium Luxembourg will now be defined as your chosen Outside Tool.

 

Portal connection problem resolved

Consortium Luxembourg’s electronic documentation portal experienced problems when attempting to connect and access resources this morning.  This problem has now been resolved.

European Views of the Americas: 1493-1750

Consortium Luxembourg is pleased to announce the addition of a new database to the Consortium Luxembourg Electronic Documentation Portal.

European Views of the Americas contains more than 32,000 entries and is a comprehensive guide to printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750. It covers the history of European exploration as well as portrayals of native American peoples. A wide range of subject areas are covered; from natural disasters to disease outbreaks and slavery. The original bibliography was co-developed by John Alden and Dennis Landis, Curator of European Books at The John Carter Brown Library. The John Carter Brown Library, founded in 1846, is a foremost repository of rare books and materials and is a center for advanced research in history and the humanities.
